Felipe B. Alfonso

 

Prof. Felipe B. Alfonso is the Vice-Chairman of the AIM Board of Trustees and the Executive Director of the Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr. AIM Center for Corporate Social Responsibility. From 1990-99, Prof. Alfonso was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute and President of its fund-raising arm, the AIM Scientific Research Foundation (AIMSRF). Currently, he is the Chairman of the Board of CIS Bayad Center, e-Meralco Ventures, Inc. (EMVI), and STI Inc. He is a member of the board of directors of Andorra Ventures Corporation, Bacnotan Consolidated Industries, Inc., Bauang Private Power Corporation, Benpres Holdings Corporation, First Philippine Realty Corporation, First Private Power Corporation, Franklin Baker Company of the Philippines, Jollibee Foods Corporation, and PHINMA, Inc.

An active professional and civic leader, Prof. Alfonso is a member of Bishops-Businessmen's Conference (BBC), Makati Business Club, Management Association of the Philippines and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. He was also the Chairman of the Association of Deans of Southeast Asian Graduate Schools of Management (ADSGM) until June 2002 and President of the International Management Development Network (INTERMAN). From 1991-2006, Prof. Alfonso was also the Director-General of the Philippine Committee of the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC), an association of Asia-Pacific business leaders which promotes the expansion of trade and investment through open markets. Prof. Alfonso works closely with a number of socio-civic organizations assisting poor and disadvantaged communities. He is a Trustee of the Coca-Cola Foundation of the Philippines, First Philippine Conservation, Inc. (FPCI), Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc., Philippine Foundation for Global Concerns, Inc., and STI Foundation. He is also the Chairman of Gaston Z. Ortigas Peace Institute and President of the Lopez Group Foundation, Inc.

Prior to joining academe in 1967, Prof. Alfonso was a practicing lawyer and served as Corporate Secretary for several Philippine companies. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Ateneo de Manila University (1962) and a Master in Business Administration from the New York University (1967).
